Digital NEST Teaches Underserved Youth Technology Skills

7 October, 2014

The Digital NEST (Nurturing Entrepreneurial Skills with Technology) is a high-tech space located in the heart of Watsonville. Young people ages 12-24 will have full access to computers, software, Wi-Fi, and other digital tools and classes. They will master skills necessary to thrive in the high-tech, globally connected world in which we all live. The Digital NEST will create a pathway to higher education and career opportunities by offering members thousands of online and in-house courses such as video production, programming, networking, web site design, and graphic design.

Digital NEST programming will first focus on three pathways; video production, web site development, and graphic design. In addition to these three pathways members will take courses on basic workforce skills (such as Microsoft Office applications, writing a resume, communication).

The $1500 BFJSCC grant will purchase much needed staff computers and software.
